Rahul Gandhi Accuses Amit Shah of “Unraveling Under Pressure” After Parliament Row on ‘Vande Mataram’ and SIR Debate

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi accuses Union Home Minister Amit Shah of appearing “mentally disturbed” and using abusive language during a heated parliamentary debate on ‘Vande Mataram’ and SIR terminology. Gandhi claims the government was under pressure due to alleged “vote theft,” escalating tensions between the Opposition and the Centre.

A sharp political confrontation erupted on Wednesday after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi launched a blistering attack on the Centre and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, following an intense exchange in Parliament over the ‘Vande Mataram’ and SIR terminology debate. Gandhi, speaking to reporters after the session, claimed that the Opposition had effectively cornered the government during the discussion, leaving senior ministers visibly unsettled.

According to Gandhi, Amit Shah appeared “mentally disturbed” during the heated debate and even resorted to “abusive language” in the House—an allegation that is likely to heighten tensions between the Treasury and Opposition benches. Gandhi insisted that the Home Minister’s demeanor reflected the pressure the government was under throughout the proceedings.

He further alleged that the ruling establishment, including Shah, was weighed down by accusations of “vote theft,” which, he claimed, formed the backdrop of their discomfort during the debate. Gandhi argued that the government’s inability to respond convincingly to Opposition questions was symptomatic of deeper anxieties within the system, particularly regarding electoral processes.

The remarks come at a time when Parliament has been witnessing frequent clashes between the government and the Opposition, with debates on national symbols and parliamentary norms often transforming into broader political face-offs. The latest confrontation adds another layer to the ongoing friction, highlighting persistent mistrust between the two blocs.

As both sides continue to trade accusations, the episode underscores the increasingly adversarial tone of parliamentary discourse and sets the stage for further political turbulence in the coming days.
